Ryuke stood in the empty field, icy toothpick in mouth, gazing up at the blue sky, waiting for Neji.

Neji suddenly appeared a few feet away from Ryuke, he was blank, yet..anxious to begin..as he always felt when it came to a battle such as important as this..I hope I..haven't kept you waiting

Ryuke opened his eyes and looked at him calmly, uncrossing his legs and standing up.

He waved towards a suitable rock a few feet away.

Neji nodded and sat on the rock that Ryuke told him to, Neji looked at Ryuke a bit strangely..but shook it off..

We're going to start simple. Questions. Im going to ask you a few questions, that you'll need to answer, and ill assess you on them. Understood?

Ryuke cracked his neck, and sat on a rock opposite him.

Neji nodded slowly as he looked at Ryuke like he was some person that was asking him his name, but wondered what he could possibly question.

Tell me Neji, why is it that you want to be an ANBU, and what does it mean to you spiritually?

Neji thought for a moment, it was quite simple, but he wasn't sure if he would be able to tell him about it..'Spiritually' Maybe..personally. He'll have to try.. Being born in the Branch Family of the clan made me realize it takes more than a strong person to actually want something bad enough, and train your entire life wanting what you've trained for so long. It takes time, patience, and prosperity..more so..it takes the strength and will to want it bad enough, to never give up on wanting it. Though there are things I regret saying and thinking about the Main Branch, I figured about what my father wanted from me, what he wanted me to do. He wanted me to become strong, true to myself and my village..and I want to be as strong as i can possibly be..and if training, and working day and night to be an ANBU is what I have to be to achieve me that dream..I'll do anything it means to protect Konoha with my life..like a true Leaf Shinobi. Neji looked at Ryuke for a while.

Next question... What does it mean to be a true shinobi?

Neji closed his eyes and reopened his pearly white eyes..To be a true shinobi..is the will for life of your village, teamwork, and fondness for how your living life. Putting yourself at risk for people and a village you love is what being a shinobi is all about, it's wanting to protect the people that you find dear to you, willing to go through pain, loss, and even torture to strive for what you want. Watching one of your friends die or get hurt is one of the sacrifices of being a shinobi, but at all costs..save that person..

His eyes were attentive and calm, almost like he was reading Neji like a book.

Neji looked at Ryuke, his eyes turning soft..Yes, I can..this village is my home..these people are my people I need to protect, I'm willing to put my life on the line of death if that's what it means to be a true shinobi..

Ryuke nodded and sat quietly for a good 15 minutes. Finally he spokes.

Your answers are proper, you have passed part 1 of 3 of the ANBU exam. Sit and rest for 10 minutes, and we shall begin part two.

It gently began to snow.

The snow was cold and was roughly a 1 foot height before Ryuke spoke again.
